Big Boy Bedroom Reveal

This post has been such a long time coming! The irony is not lost on me that I am finally sharing it after my toddler suddenly decided sleeping by himself isn't his thing anymore but that's a different story for a different day.

Truthfully I got stuck on this room when it came to drapes. Despite sharing my inspiration way back when (PS somehow I almost forgot about the horrendous paint this room had in the before photo!), drapes were what tripped me up. Who knew? Thankfully Carousel Designs came to the rescue and this space is DONE!

Anyways, you guys I think I really hit the nail on the head with this room for Rowan.

He may not like sleeping in there by himself, but he does LOVE this room before 8 PM. I managed to avoid any major themes while giving him all the big boy bedroom things. There are blue walls, animals, shapes, sports, and books... so many books. They are crammed into every nook and cranny of this room.

Also bear with me on these photos... It was so overcast that day but as busy toddler mamas know, there is a very small window of time bedrooms stay this clean, so you do what you gotta do!

We love his metal bed, you can change out the shorter legs we are using here for taller ones so its great for a toddler or adults. It's also been really sturdy- we plan to buy another if we end up doing a shared bedroom when baby brother gets bigger!

The wall color in Rowan's room is called Silver Half Dollar by Benjamin Moore and its such a chameleon color depending on the day in this space. The room has only one small window in it, so unless I photograph it on mid-day with the sun out, its super difficult for me even as a photographer to get a true color off of these walls... it reads somewhere between a steel blue grey and light blue in person.

I love all of the little details of this space - the black and white seersucker duvet, the DIY throw pillow, wire wall baskets. Even the banner, which is something we have said to Rowan every night at bedtime, has so much meaning to it I just had to include it.

On the side closest to his window we have his bookshelf that houses so. many. books. The drawers are full of them!

I had so much fun styling these bookshelves, which is typically not my strong suit. Target dollar section baskets, a random bag of baseballs I found in our garage, and Disney Baby books circa 1987 for the win.

I don't know what we'd do without those custom blackout curtains c/o Carousel Designs! They are so beautifully made and I was able to easily customize them with the exact colors, size and style I wanted for the room.

For the top half I chose antique white and bottom half is a basic black. The curtains have weights in them at the bottom which is genius and tabs in the back for hanging. You can choose the length and width of your curtains so I went a little long with ours so they would pool at the bottom.

On the opposite side of the room is the dresser and a little gallery wall with my favorite print, Whale Series One c/o Minted as the focal point. The colors of this print are so perfect for this space - watercolors with blue, grey and black hues, plus a modern black metal frame.

The love the train blueprint printable and scooped up the triangle shelf without realizing how much R would talk about having triangles in his room. Mom win! The rest I pulled from Rowan's original nursery so this part of the room came together really easily.

We try to get as much playtime in this space as we can because we love it so much, and hello... washable rug! And honestly after we added a bumper, I think it ended up being the coziest spot in the house!

Also for the record, I absolutely know someday this room will be filled with all of the superhero things and colors that make my eyes hurt, but its perfect for him to grow into and who knows, maybe we'll be crazy and add Finn in there eventually!

Thank you so much to Carousel Designs and Minted for partnering with me on this space! And thank you, my readers, for supporting the brands that keep this blog going all of these years!
