When I shared the plans for baby #2's nursery, I mentioned that we can't do much in the room until we move Rowan into his new bedroom. But... I was so stuck on what to do!! I want it to be kid friendly and fun for him (mostly so he'll agree to give up the converted crib without a fight!) but also stay true to our decorating style. Basically that means no crazy colors or bold graphics spewed throughout the room.
I'm sure there will come a day when he has a say in his room and really, really wants a Nemo comforter, but until then it gets styled by mama!
The room is currently painted Sweet Innocence by Benjamin Moore, which is a really nice steel blue-type color. It's not too light like our master bedroom shade of blue (Marilyn's Dress by BM) but not too dark because there is only one small window in the room and it doesn't get a ton of light to begin with.
And just for fun, here's what it looked like when we bought the house.
WOOF.
We have obviously been using this bedroom as storage up until now (as you can see.. eek!) so cleaning it out has been my main goal the past few weeks.
I'm a little hesitant about that bed frame only because I can totally see my child sticking his head through the rungs and having to butter him up to get him out... but we're doing this on a budget so the price point can't be beat. I'm basically hedging my bets he never gets that idea in his head...
I'm moving our favorite Lorena Canals rug from the playroom to Rowan's room because I think it's perfect for this space.
Rowan is one of those kids that is really interested in a ton of different things, rather than focusing on just trains for example, so the dinosaur sheets may not seem like they "go" but I think he'll be so excited about them!
I also want to add a few things to the walls that remind me of him, like his love for sea creatures (the Minted Whale print), Train (patent print), and a cute banner with a quote that he says to us every night before bed!
I'm so excited to see it come together, next step is finishing the clean out + ordering furniture!
